Palace Guard

A master study of Ludwig Deutsch's ¨A Palace Guard¨ from The Orientalists book. I love doing master studies like this one since you learn so much about colour, texture, realist approaches and brushstrokes. The best way to do them is without colour picking obviously and they are truly a lot of fun.

I wanted to focus solely on the subject and that is why the background walls look like a five minute blob of paint.
